I love human beings (well, most of them!) What a fascinating, interesting, sometimes frustrating, wonderful part of our experience.
I am also a huge believer in the fact that we are each totally unique and totally special in our own way. Consequently, I am convinced that each human being is, in his or her own way a genius. Part of my joy in life is what I call ‘Pulling the gold out of people!” i.e. helping people find their uniqueness and helping them discover their own genius and their own “gold”.
Obviously, there is a lot of dirt to dig through to get a small amount of gold but I think it’s completely worth it!!
Not only do we have to dig through a lot of dirt but it’s often very hard work and therein lies a little secret – I also am passionate about sales and the sales industry. How are these connected you may ask?
My belief is that there will be no human development while the human concerned is in their comfort zone. There’s no need to develop when you’re comfortable. It’s when you are uncomfortable that you need to adapt, make some changes, try new things, adopt some new goals and thereby … grow!! This, ladies and gentlemen, is extremely hard work!
There are very few people that are comfortable selling. Even veterans of the sales industry who have been selling for 30 and 40 years will tell you that they still get incredibly nervous and stressed out when they are about to go selling or into a sales meeting!! Or even when they get into the “disciplines” of sales, like prospecting, cold calling, follow-ups and the like! … AND there’s a TON of that. Those activities are the “dirt”, the “effort” and “tough stuff” we need to wade and grind through to get through to the sales!!
Selling is the perfect arena for people who desire to grow themselves. To grow themselves as humans and to grow their incomes and lifestyles. I’m going to suggest that Sales is among the most lucrative industries you could possibly get into, if done correctly and consistently!!
Where this gets really intriguing is the fact that I believe that all people are salespeople. Brian Tracey has always maintained that all people are salespeople whether they derive their income form actual sales or otherwise! We are all trying to sell something whether it’s a product, an ideology or a belief we are all selling. There are people out there right now using all their natural genius, energy and creativity to try and “sell” us the idea that they are NOT salespeople! Fascinating!!
Whether you are a Preacher, a Pimp or a Pusher…you are in sales!!
In my 35-year career I have sold furniture, people, IT, Food, Insurance and Wealth Creation vehicles, and training, coaching and consulting services.
If you find yourself in a sales role or in a business that needs to grow revenue, or your own business and need to find business maybe this a great connection for you.
I have a massive “heart” for people in their own businesses especially with the impact of COVID! Statistics seem to suggest that 95% of small, new business start-ups last less than 2 years. Some even suggest that 1 out of every 100 small businesses make it to the 5-year mark!!
What’s devastating to me is not just that a business shuts down, but more often than not, a person or family loses everything in the process. Life savings disappear, wealth that has been generated gets lost and often people’s retirement funds and savings get eaten up as well. As if that were not enough the resultant loss of self-worth, self-belief and confidence can get totally destroyed in the experience! There’s nothing good about it!
If you are watching or reading this today and have maybe been through an experience like this, or if you are in business and want to grow your revenue and build your sales process, why don’t you get in touch.
My 4 Pillars of Sales, drawn from 30 years of experience, countless books, videos and conferences will give you a set of tools that are super easy to understand and super easy to apply and can seriously boost your business from not enough sales to TOO MANY SALES!!!
Even if we just have a chat – I’d love to hear from you.
Go for it!
