Few would argue that we are experiencing tough times. The market place is in a state of tremendous flux. Prices can change significantly based purely on a politician or businessman’s comments. Competition in some sectors has become fierce with new company’s entering the fray daily (with many trying to disrupt industries with questionable tactics as they seek to stay afloat!) and shareholders looking for greater profits.
Service levels are generally appalling and it’s often difficult to rely on supply or quality…and in the midst of all this we are meant to sell.
The reality is that there are so many things we can blame for our failures and lack of sales! BUT there is another reality though…!! In the midst of the biggest recession people are still buying…the only question is…are they buying from you..??
The sales professionals that are doing well face the same challenges but instead, see opportunities. They continue to put in the effort. They continue to have brilliant attitudes. They continuously strive to add value way above the cost of their goods…. Their aftersales service is way above average; irrespective of their company…They remain focused on their personal goals and targets …and they continue to achieve.
3 client’s that I’ve gotten to work with in the last year, have all produced record sales years 2020/2021 despite the effects of COVID and resultant issues. ( I’d love to take all the credit here but the honest truth is that these are outstanding individuals who have always been top achievers in their respective sales space!)
So, what sets these people apart…??
Could it be just one word that makes difference…DECIDE.?
Could it be that, despite facing the same news, the same situations and information, they have chosen to keep their spirits up, service levels high, effort levels high, creativity and “teach-ability” high.
Could it be that they have CHOSEN to get BETTER not BITTER?
May I suggest that, in my opinion, BITTER and BETTER are both personal decisions. Ultimately you are in control of which lane you run in! You can chose to “stay down” after being sideswiped by the pressures of the last year or can chose to keep your chin up , find a way to pivot and continuously keep your eyes on the opportunities and the prize!
I submit that, CHOICES are the difference between a sales person who simply has a job (Just Over Broke) and a sales PROFESSIONAL who continues to crush it no matter the obstacles that come across their path!
